Have you ever been shopping with your tween daughter, and you find yourself in the Girl’s Section but nothing fits? Navigating the world of shopping for tween girls can be a daunting task, especially when the industry standard sizes in the Girls' Section don't quite fit the bill. Whether it's due to height, breadth, or overall size, finding suitable clothing can become a frustrating experience. This was a firsthand encounter for me when my daughter was 11 years old.
Our quest for the perfect swimsuit for a spring break vacation turned into a challenge as we discovered that the offerings in the Girls' Section were not accommodating her size. Plus-size options were limited, often sold out, or not large enough for her needs. Frustrated with outdated and boring swimsuits, my daughter desired something cute, fun, and trendy like her peers.
Despite our efforts, the Girls' Section let us down, leading us to explore the Women's Section. However, women's swimsuits were ill-fitted for her tween body. In a creative solution, we had to modify the swimsuit, removing the underwire and adjusting it to meet her requirements. While it worked out in the end, the emotional toll of the experience was significant.
Witnessing my daughter endure this emotional pain during what should have been a simple shopping trip was disheartening. Determined to address this gap in the market, I founded SwimHer – the first girls' swimwear brand offering extended and inclusive sizes for Tween and Teen girls, including Plus-Size options. Our mission is to empower all girls to feel confident and happy in what they wear, and SwimHer's swimwear aims to achieve just that.
